Hello, my name is Joshua Das, and I am enrolled in Journalism 2 this year. By joining the Hatchet once again, I hope I can improve my abilities of writing and editing. I have had a lot of experience writing as I was a reporter in Journalism 1. In the beginning I was a News Reporter, and I wrote with Jordan Brahaney. My first article was about guest speaker Lisa Rau, who talked to the Speech & Debate team at WHS. I wrote fairly well in that issue, but after that I wrote a little for Opinions as well. I wrote about the cons of Facebook, and Jordan wrote about the pros. I also wrote a horrible article, one I almost regret writing about bad breath. I spelled breath as breathe for most of the article and I hope that I will not make anymore foolish mistakes like that, and Im’ sure that joining Journalism 2 will help me improve on spelling. I was also an editor for Opinions, but I feel I did not do a good job. My editor in chief Vivian, did most of the job herself and I just watched and critiqued. I’m sure that working with more dedicated editors like Kaylee, Nicole, Christelle, and Michaela will help me to learn how to be a proper editor. I feel my biggest problems are editing the page, and being assertive. This year will be a great year, and I hope for the best.
